Tundra Biome
The Tundra biome is cold, dry, and mosty empty. It looks very dead when you look at it in pictures. There are actually some very interesting and cool things living and growing here!
Temperature and Precipitation
The average amount of precipitation is 6-10 inches or 15-25 centimeters a year. That is slightly greater than the desert. The temperature is very low! -20-50 degrees Fahrenheit or -28-10 degrees Celsius.
Animal and Plant Life
There aren't many things living in the tundra because of the extreme conditons. Musk oxen, arctic foxes, snowy owls, and caribous make their home in the tundra. There are only a few plants in the tundra including the arctic moss, arctic willow, bearberry, and labrador tea.
